    Unanswered: SQL Server stopped working.

I am new to the world of SQL server. My problem is that one fine day my SQL server which was running perfectly stopped working for no apparent reason. Whenever I try to start the server using the Enterprise Manager or the Query Analyser. I get an error.

Unable to connect to server <Server-name>
    Server: Msg 17, Level 16, State 1
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Shared Memory] SQL server does not exist or access denied.

I can't figure out what is wrong and why the server stopped without any apparent reason. I have made no changes to the environment on my machine whatsoever. The client and server are on my local machine.
    and the OS is Win2K.

    Desperately need some help.

The error i s saying that the server isn't running.
Does it run under your id and your password has changed?

Try starting the server manually and check the nt log and sql server log for errors.
