Unanswered: wrong version after applying sp3

I just applied sp3 to sql server 2000. The documentation said the version should be 8.00.760. When I do about/sql server enterprise manager I get 8.00.760. When I select @version I get :

    Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.679 (Intel X86)
    Aug 26 2002 15:09:48
    Copyright (c) 1988-2000 Microsoft Corporation
Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 3)

Looks like the last line is correct but the first is not.

Can someone explain this to me? Is there something wrong or is this normal?

    Thanks.

I'm told that 679 is sp2 with the worm hotfix.
Suspect these servers have not had sp3 successfully installed.

Is there any way to verify this?

If necessary, I may try to contact MicroSoft. What is the best way to do this?

    Thanks.

You may have only found the version of one of the client tools. Run the following query on the sql server:

    select @@version

This will tell you the version of the SQL Server itself.

    Matt,

I just ran it again and got the following:

    Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X86)
    Dec 17 2002 14:22:05
    Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation
Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 3)

Looks like the version is ok now. Not sure why I got the other results the first time.

    Thanks.
    Joe
