    Unanswered: CIS login trouble

    Hello,

I just upgraded a 12.0 server to 12.0.0.6 and now my "connect to" command gives me a:
Internal Ct-Lib/Cs-Lib error 4002: 'Login failed.'.
    Msg 11206, Level 16, State 1:
Line 1: Unable to connect to server 'MyServer'.

This has worked always. I've looked at all the settings I can think off but they are set just fine.

    Windows 2000 server box btw.

Anyone encountered this or knows how to work around it?

I think the way the TDS packets are sent has been changed in SQL 2000. You may want to verify with Microsoft/SYBASE.

Earlier when I had opened a case with sybase they had mentioned it.

Strange that that would result in a higher version database not being able to talk to a lower version database anymore. You would think it is downwards compatible.

I'll setup a second 12.0.0.6 server and see if CIS will work then. That would most likely solve our problem.

    Thanks

Are you trying to connect from Sybase to MS SQL Server? If so later versions of MS SQL and Sybase speak different dialects of TDS. I'm pretty sure I read that on http://www.freetds.org

No, it's just Sybase 12.0.0.6 talking to Sybase 12.0.0.0 or 11.9.2.x going wrong.

Havent had time to test 12.0.0.6 to 12.0.0.6 yet.

I could try 12.5.0.1 to 12.0 for you. I don't have the intermediate EBFs such as 12.0.0.6.
