    Exclamation Unanswered: Archive log discrepancy

    Hello all, I am trying to do an update backup using the EM console and apparently a particular log file was corrupted during the process. Therefore, each time I run a backup using EM I get this error stating below:

    Starting backup at FEB 07 2003 13:21:51
    current log archived
    released channel: Channel1
    RMAN-00571: ================================================== =========
    RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
    RMAN-00571: ================================================== =========
    RMAN-03002: failure of backup command at 02/07/2003 13:21:53
    ORA-19563: archived log header validation failed for file D:\ORACLE\ORA90\RDBMS\ARC00003.001

    Is there some way resetting this procedure

    if you don't have a valid copy of D:\ORACLE\ORA90\RDBMS\ARC00003.001 then you can delete this file on os-level. A record for each archived-log is stored in the controlfile with a flag "DELETED" witch tells the db that the archived-log is accesseble or not. So, you have to sync the controlfile. To do so use the RMAN command:

    change archivelog all crosscheck; (8i)

    chrosscheck archivelog all; (9i)

    After that you have a gap in your archivelog sequence and you can not recover from an old backup to a point in time after taht gap.

    Pleas make a new FULL backup

    regards jf
