    Angry Unanswered: Werid results when subtracting

    I am using a simple formula: A-(B+C+D+E)

    If A = 5901.29
    B = 391745.02
    C = 0
    D = -385843.73
    E = 0

    The answer I am getting is -4E-11 when it should be zero. Does anyone know what is going on here? I am so very confused.

    Weird..

    The strangest thing is if you put the numbers in excel it does it too.

    However, the good news is that if you change all fields to have the same number of decimal places, it works.

    Don't know why, but it does.

    Yes but the number isn't really zero right. I am doing a check on that field to display null if the answer is zero but I am not getting a null because the answer is really -4E-11.

    Any thoughts?

    I bet this is because the result is coming back as something other then a number. Try formatting the result and you should get 0

    I had to format my result in the query.

    ie) Format([Result],"0.00")

    Thank Experts Exchange for that one.
