    Unanswered: Clob column creation problem

    Whenever I try to create a clob column either using a distinct type or a column datatype I get problems with UDB 7.2 for windows NT.

    The errors I get are:

    create table test (clobCol clob)

    DB21034E The command was processed as an SQL statement because it was not a

    valid Command Line Processor command. During SQL processing it returned:

    SQL0604N The length, precision, or scale attribute for column, distinct type,

    structured type, attribute of structured type, function, or type mapping

    "CLOBCOL" is not valid. SQLSTATE=42611

    CREATE DISTINCT TYPE DataDefinition AS CLOB ;
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    CREATE DISTINCT TYPE DataDefinition AS CLOB

    DB21034E The command was processed as an SQL statement because it was not a

    valid Command Line Processor command. During SQL processing it returned:

    SQL0104N An unexpected token "CLOB" was found following "PE DataDefinition

    AS". Expected tokens may include: "<source_data_type>". SQLSTATE=42601

    I dont get this problem with 8.1. Is there a special way to define clob columns in 7.2. There is no indication of this in the documentation.

    Hi,
    Make it this way.

    create table test (clobCol CLOB (1 G) NOT LOGGED COMPACT);

    Specify the size as per your needs.
