    Question Unanswered: Database Backup

    Hi all!!!

    Theoretically it is possible.

    First force everyone off of the database.
    Perform an offline backup.
    Copy the backup image to the Windows server
    execute a command similar to:

    RESTORE DATABASE <Current DB> FROM <where image is> TAKEN AT <timestamp of image> TO <dir for new DB> INTO <New BD name> WITH 2 BUFFERS BUFFER 1024 WITHOUT PROMPTING ;

    There may need to be more to the command, such as where to put tablespaces, etc. Lookup the command in the reference to see all the options.

    Not Possible

    It Is not Possible to RESTORE the backup on Windows that was taken on Linux.
    Backup Taken on Linux Operating system will not work on other Opertaing Systems. It will work only on other Linux systems

    Re: Database Backup

    I'm not sure that cross-platform db backup/restore is allowed,
    at least in v7 (I read somewhere it's possible in v8)
    I think the only option is db2move
