    Unanswered: User-defined type between packages

What is the best way to manage user-defined types between packages?

I have p1 and p2 in which I have defined a type in exactly the same manner: p1.type and p2.type

If I define a variable of type in a sub-procedure, which is then passed as a parameter to functions in p1.x and p2.y, I cannot have it both ways. I'll get a wrong type message for the one or the other.

Is it common to define a package of types?

You could have a package of types. Or alternatively you can treat one of the packages as the natural "home" for the type, and the other can reference it from there.
