Question Unanswered: How can I output messages to the screen from within a procedure?

    Hi there,

I am a novice at using DB2 but have worked with Oracle before. Currently the DB2 is residing on a Linux Server and I am developing from a Win 2K machine.

I do not know if there is an equivalent of the Oracle DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE command in DB2 to display messages to screen from within a stored procedure while running? I want to be able to display messages to screen on the db2 console or in the messages section at the bottom of the Procedure Builder to see the values of my variables while processing.

    Thanks for all your help,
    Kyri

    Installation Question for the UDF

    Thank you for your feedback.

I wanted to clarify a couple of questions:-

1)Will I be creating the external functions on the Linix Server as well as copy the UDF to the SQLLIB/function folder?

2)In addition do I need to install anything on the Win 2000 Wrkstn to call the UDF from my Stored Procedures?

Thank you for getting back to me so soon.

Re: Installation Question for the UDF

To call a UDF from your stored procedure you need not do anything ... About how you use the UDF, I believe that the article and the sample code provide detailed information on using it ... I'd suggest you to follow the steps religiously ...
