    Angry Unanswered: image import problems with interMedia

    im exhausted!

    when i try to import an image from the file system on the database server, i have the following PL/SQL code:

    create or replace directory PICDIR as 'd:\pic';

    create table t( id NUMBER NOT NULL, pic ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE NOT NULL);

    declare
    img ordsys.ordimage;
    ctx raw(4000);

    begin
    ctx := NULL;
    insert into t values( 1, ordsys.ordimage.init());
    commit;

    select pic into img
    from t
    where id = 1 for update;

    img.setSource('file','PICDIR','1.bmp');
    -- the following statement have problem!!!!!
    img.import( ctx );
    img.setProperties();

    update t
    set pic = img;
    where id = 1;
    commit;

    end;
    /

    whenever i try these codes, there would be always an exception.
    i am sure the directory is right.
    i suppose that maybe it's the problem of configuration of Oracle DB, my version is 9.0.1.1.1;

    thank you!

    One thing to check -- did you grant read access to the directory for the user executing your procedure?

    Something like:

    GRANT READ ON DIRECTORY PICDIR TO this_user;

    Hope this helps.

    I have the same problem but on the opossite derection. I want to export an image or a video. No the grant READ (or WRITE in my situation) did not solve the problem
