Thumbs down Unanswered: Informix 7.30.TC3 on Windows 2000 Server

    Hi!

I installed a Informix 7.30.TC3 Windows NT version in a server with Windows 2000 Server SP3.
The first it work fine, but I had to unistall it.
I passed the SP3 again and reinstall the Informix, but when I create the install, I receive a message telling tha the service could not be started, and instructing me to check the Securty Event Log or the log of the informix server to see what happened. In this places there is nothing. The log of the informix server isn't even created.
    I don't know what is.
I uninstalled everything again and clear all the regedit informix references, but the error still appears.

if I manually try to start informix (using oninit), the following error raise:

oninit: DBSERVERNAME 'ol_senioraux' not in sqlhosts file or sqlhosts file contents are damaged.

The ol_senioraux information on the sqlhosts appears to be OK (the regedit entry)

Someone knows where the problem could be?
I'm one week behind this and got a big headache.

    Regards,

The message log is not created???
What user do you use to startup the informix service?

That user should be able to write in the MSGPATH variable.
There must be somethin in the message log. It is the first thing the server creates/opens when starting up.

    There is no informix log!
The %INFORMIXDIR% only has an ol_senioraux.cmd and no ol_senioraux.log, but there's an agent_ol_senioraux.log with the following message:

03/09/03 13:45:20 - DeleteService() failed: 1060: The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

I'm starting the informix with the INFORMIX user, it's a member of the Adminitrators group.

    Thanks for the post

Hi What is the value of the MSGPATH in your %INFORMIXDIR%\etc\%ONCONFIG% file?
That is the message log file.
In Windows, the user informix should also be a member of the group Informix-Admin.
What exactly happens if you manually execute 'oninit -v'?

My MSGPATH is %INFORMIXDIR%\ol_senioraux.log, and this file isn't created.

The error when I execute oninit -v is

    C:\Informix\bin>oninit -v

And you created an entry for 'ol_senioraux' in sqlnet32?
can you delete it and recreate it?
Can you post what you created for this INFORMIXSERVER?

    About the prerequisites...
you can access the machine notes and the release notes at
    http://www.ibm.com/software/data/informix
    follow the library link

The latest NT stuff was added by the way in the 7.31 release. It is possible you are running into some sort of bug with your old-aged version ;^)
