    Question Unanswered: Plesae help me

    I try to connect to mysql but this send me a error
    "can´t connect to mysql server on IP address, check if mysql is running in ip address on port 3306

    My client is W/me and the server are W/NT 4.0

    I try to connect by dns (myODBC) but the error is the " Lost connection"
    and later the error is "Can´t connect to MySql Serever on 'IP address' (10061)"

    Plesae Help me

    2 things to be sure:

    - mysql server must reside on a computer with static ip address
    - you have an account in mysql which allows to connect from any host

    - the ip teh server is static
    - i have an account with allows to connect fron any host (User@%) and (User@ip)


    - the problem is that when i try to connect for ODBC this fail and send me an error "The connection whit thes host is lost"

    if you are using file DSN, pls try user DSN. some time ago i aslo got connection problem with file DSN but user DSN have worked well.

    I dont understand.............


    I try this command

    shell>mysqladmin -h200.84.35.5 Version

    and the message is this "lost connection to mysql during query"

    Server
    ip 200.84.35.235
    os Win ME
    MySql 3.23.52 MySqldNt

    Station

    ip 200.84.32.5
    os Win NT
    MySql 3.23.52 MySqld

    The service in the server is active

    I dont know what happend :'(

    dont understand too......

    -do you install mysql server on both computers: winME and NT4?

    -which computer is mysql server and which is client?

    -did you try the command "shell>mysqladmin -h200.84.35.5 Version" on Win NT station 200.84.32.5 or on 200.84.32.235 ??

    This not really true.
    You could use DSN to use dynamic ip on your server.

    You don't have to allow connexion from any host.
    You can restrict access to local network, domaine name, single ip class, or ip addresse range.
    In fact allows anyone to connect from any host, allows every one including hacker to connect to your server.
    For securité reseon this is recommand to limit access to only authorised host

    dont know why. i tried your command on a windows 2000 computer to query mysql server on another windows 2000 computer without any problems.

    i dont have your OS platforms (ME and NT). sorry
