    Unanswered: DMS tablespace question

    Hi All,
    I am working with db2V7.2 ,Aix4.3 .
I want to create DMS tablespace in device type (not file type), my question is, the disk should be empty? for example I write

    create tablespaces..........using (device '/dev/lv001' 1024)
the LVM /dev/lv001 should be empty before I create the tablespace?
I appreciate if you share your knowledge.
    Thanks

    Re: DMS tablespace question

I have not tried this one .... But, I assume, it should not be possible because it is a device and you define the entire unit to DB2 ..

Hope someone else here has tried using a non-empty device, give a definitive answer

    Cheers
