    Unanswered: multiple listener

I configured an extra listner called listener1 to listen on port 1522.
I am able to start this listener , but when I tried to logon to the server from a client using this listener:

    Connect scott/****@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=10. 1.2.198)(PORT=1522))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=orcl)))

I get the following error message

Warning: You are no longer connected to ORACLE.
    ERROR:
    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Intel SVR4 UNIX Error: 2: No such file or directory

My database is up and running and I am able to connect with the default listener

    Re: multiple listener

check that the listener is running and listening for the database in the 1522 port with:

    lsnrctl stat <name_of_2d_listener>

    Check the listener.ora file.

On your client - make sure you have ORACLE_SID adn ORACLE_HOME setup correctly. And better create tnsname for

    (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=10.1.2.1 98)(PORT=1522))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=orcl)))

    and connect using it:

    SQL>connect scott/*****@tnsname

    Hope that helps,

These errors typically point to environmental problems. Check to make sure your environment variables are correct.
