Unanswered: update part of a string

    Hi,

I have a lot of varchar columns of which I want to update only a part of the value. Let's say I have now "wheelbase 5,360 mm" and I want to update it to "distance 5,360 mm". It's always one term that needs to be updated (in my example I would have a lot of "wheelbase" to update to "distance"), but the term is not always the first word (for example it could be "bla bla bla wheelbase bla bla").
Is there an easy function available in Oracle to do this or should I use a combination of functions.

    Thanks
    Johan

    You can use:

    REPLACE( col, 'wheelbase', 'distance' )
