    Unanswered: Accesssing Client Machine

    Hi All
I am writing some text to a file. The process goes like this. the user clicks the browse button <input type=file> and selects file(c:\somefile.xt) on his machine and clicks write button. then the server should write sth in to the selected file on that machine.

So Now how can i access the client machines c:\ drive and write something in to his file.

    Please reply asap
    This is damn urgent

    Thanks in advance

You are wanting to actually write to a file on the client's local machine by way of an ASP document?

That's can be a pretty big endeavor, and I am not sure if it is even technologically possible due to the concept and methodology of how web browsers work to protect that from happening.

You may be able to create an ActiveX control to do this, but that's a whole different ball game.
