    Unanswered: SQL0270N - Why can't we update a partirioned table ?

    Hi,
Why doesn't a DB2 EEE partitioned table allow updates ? Why do we need to go for a delete and an update in turn ? This is in response to the error number "SQL0270N Function not supported (Reason code = "2"). SQLSTATE=42997" . It seems pretty amusing, rather frustrating that we can't do straightaway updates. Or am I missing something somewhere ?

You can update a partitioning table as long as the partioning key is the same ...

In other words, you cannot do an update of the key as this will mean relocating the row from one partition to another ...

    Of course, frustrating ...
