    Unanswered: Open web page in new window - w/o Javascript

    I need to open a web page, from PHP, in a new window without using any Javascript.

    I tried the following without any luck.

    header("Window: _blank");
    header("Location: SubmitInfo.php");

    Thanks in advance.

    I don't think it's possible to do that in PHP as PHP occurs on the server end, and opening up a new window seems to be a client side task. Can you post more info about the overall goal you're trying to accomplish, maybe someone can suggest a workaround that will achieve the same effect.

    (I'm only available at the email address provided in my profile on weekdays, if you have questions or advice, during off hours use AIM). Also any views I provide here or on my website are mine and not representative of any views of my work, family, friends and sometimes even myself.

    why not add a new target in the link like

    <a href="..." target="<randomstring>">Linktext</a>
    I hopefully believe there is no other posibilty to open new windows without Javascript or clicking a link, else a lot of popups will apear, even if JS is deactivated :-)

    note that opening a new window this way is a deprecated behaviour -- you should allow the user to decide if she wants a new window
