Unanswered: UPDATE(column_name) and COLUMNS_UPDATED()
I'm reading up on triggers for an MCP-exam (70-229) and I stumbled across the UPDATE(column_name) statement in a book I've got my hands on. I have used the COLUMNS_UPDATED() a few times but this UPDATE-statement seems ALOT easier to use. I have never really grasped the consepts of this varbinary bit-pattern and I would like to avoid it if I can.
Are there any significant differences when it comes to using the two different methods? Can I use the UPDATE-statement at will and foget all about COLUMNS_UPDATED()?
