    Unanswered: @@servername question

how do you ensure that your @@servername matches your servername in the interfaces file?

    I have tried sp_addserver 'CFDEV',local','CFDEV'

I check master..sysservers and see that my srvname = 0 which i assume means it is local, then I reboot and when I run a "selcet @@sqlserver' I still get a null result.

    What am I doing wrong???

You should try with this, this is because the other name is for aliases:

    sp_addserver CFDEV, local

I tried it ,but all I get is a server message telling me that
there is already a server named 'CFDEV' , pysical name 'CFDEV'
    1 row affected

    when I do a select @@servername I still get a null

I am running ASE 11.5 on NT by the way........

With sp_helpserver you can see the servers list and then you can check if 'CFDEV' already exist and select @@servername is null try with another name or change the name already in.

It works now. I had to drop it and recreate it. Even with the same name.

    Thanks guys.
