    Unanswered: SQL Server Agent fails after Win2k SP3

    We recently applied Win2k SP3 on our clustered environment running SQLServer 7.0. Since then the SQL Sever agent works only on the primary node but cannot start on the second node with the error message :

    "2/7/2003 10:34:26 PM - ? [129] SQLServerAgent starting under Windows NT service control
    2/7/2003 10:34:58 PM - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 6, Specified SQL server not found. [SQLSTATE 08001]
    2/7/2003 10:34:58 PM - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 2, ConnectionOpen (CreateFile()). [SQLSTATE 01000]
    2/7/2003 10:34:58 PM - ! [000] Unable to connect to server; SQLServerAgent cannot start
    2/7/2003 10:34:58 PM - ? [098] SQLServerAgent terminated (normally)

    Problem is if a failover occurs, we can't run the db backups using TSM.

    Any ideas?

    From Control panel ---> services find out whether Messenger service is started or not if not start and same as SQLServer Agent.
