belive you have to use exp80 on you 9i database, then use imp80 as normal, but check first!

you must connect you oracle8i server to the machine that has oracle9 running
you can do this using the EASY NET CONFIGURATION ASSISTANT
FROM THERE YOU CREATE A LOCAL NET SERVICE NAME BY TYPING THE IP THAT THE SERVER WITH THE ORACLE9 HAS.(LETS SAY THAT YOU DESCRIBE THIS SERVICE NAME AS:ORACLE9)
WHEN YOU FINISH WITH THAT YOU MUST OPEN A COMMAND PROMT AND TYPE:
    EXP80
    USERNAME:GR@ORACLE9
**WHERE GR IS THE USERNAME FOR THE DB THA YOU WANT TO EXPORT FROM THE ORACLE9 MACHINE
    AND
ORACLE9 IS THE SERVICE NAME OF THE MACHINE**
PASSWORD:THE PASSWORD OF THE ORACLE9 DB
AND THEN YOU GO ON AS EXPECTED
