    Unanswered: sqlplus error when adding meta data and creating user

    Folks,
    I have installed Oracle9i on Linux 8.0. Having done the installation steps I am at the stage where I am trying to load the Meta data using the rdbms/admin/catalog and catproc sqls. However I get recompilation/revalidation errors (too many to list here). I get the same errors if I try to create a user at the sql prompt. Can some one tell me what it is that I am missing? The sample error is:

    SQL> create user andy identified by password;

    create user andy identified by password
    *
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-04045: errors during recompilation/revalidation of
    SYS.CDC_CREATE_CTABLE_BEFORE
    ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called
    ORA-06512: at line 2

    Thank you all for your help.

    and object_name like 'CDC_CREATE_CTABLE_BEFORE%';

    select owner, object_name, status from all_objects where owner = 'SYS'

    ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called

    ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called
    ORA-06512: at line 2

    I am not sure of the source directory. I am totally new to oracle and I would like some help in sorting this out. Perhaps you can point me to a tutorial or such for finding the source files and compiling them.

    I very much appreciate you help.

    Thank you.

    for it sounds the database has been created with error. Had the datafiles incorrectly been created?

    it will be the best to drop the database and create it again..
    look at the crdb<1..3>.log for more errors.
    besides : did the compilation process of the rdbms sw succeed?
    check the inventory logs
    did you run the root script that has interrupped the install procedure ...
