    Exclamation Unanswered: SQL Server Assertion: File: <recbase.cpp>, line=1378

    Hello - HELP

    I have a customer running mssql 2000 sp3, and i get this error all the time now. I do this select:

    select count(*) from sysobjects where type = 'U'

    and get this in the errorlog/dump log:

    2003-04-14 12:10:15.11 spid83 Stack Signature for the dump is 0xD212B773

    Failed Assertion = 'm_offBeginVar < m_SizeRec'.
    2003-04-14 12:10:15.12 spid83 Error: 3624, Severity: 20, State: 1.
    2003-04-14 12:12:15.65 spid63 Using 'dbghelp.dll' version '4.0.5'
    *Dump thread - spid = 63, PSS = 0x5f6891f0, EC = 0x5f689518
    *Stack Dump being sent to d:\microsoft sql server\MSSQL\log\SQLDump0164.txt

    Here is some version info:

    Hi,

    I had the same problem and it seems that this kind of error appears when SQL detects some allocation errors in DB pages.
    I suggest to run
    DBCC CHECKDB(), and if 'm_offBeginVar < m_SizeRec' is shown, you got a problem ! Try to repair your DB using DBCC CHECKDB() with REPAIR_REBUILD option (see BOL).
    This could be caused by a hardware failure (hd or hd controller)

    I suggest to approach MS PSS being issues with system tables.
