    Unanswered: Checking Installed version of Oracle

    Any idea on how to check whether the oracle software installed is either Enterprise Edition or a Standard Edition.

    Server version? Try

    select * from v$version;

    Hi,
    It displays the version of DB as well as the installed version of PL/SQL, TNS and also NLSRTL for your platofrm related DB. The table is having only one column BANNER in it.

    Simple connect to SQL*Plus and you will see it. For example, Enterprise Edition would have "Enterprise Edition" in the SQL*PLus banner. eg.

    Connected to:
    Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning option
    JServer Release 8.1.7.4.0 - Production

    The Standard Edition won't.

    after you logon sqlplus, check variables in the sqlplus env by just typing 'define'. You can read the version information of your installed oracle products.
