    Question Unanswered: Recovery from a "Cold Backup"

    Does anyone have any experience recovering from a cold backup? Specifically, if I perform the copy...can I reinstall Oracle 9i, then put the dbf's ect.. in the same location?

    Conrolfile trace is text file with steps necessary to recreate your database. You can get it issuing command:
    alter database backup controlfile to trace;
    Trace file is placed into udump dir of your sid's admin directory.
