    Question Unanswered: Storage Management

I'm new to Linux - and db2 v8.1 - I have used the GUI to create "snapshot" storage management script to run nightly via Task Center.

Is there a way to "snapshot" all of the tablespaces at one time, or must I go through the setup for each tablespace?

Also, is this the best way to manage storage for DMS? or would it be better to run some O.S. script through Task Center nightly? What would that script look like?

Thanks a lot for your Help!

It depends on what you're trying to do - are you trying to monitor space usage and whether you need to allocate more space? We use 'list talespaces show detail' which gives us the following information:

    Total Pages
    Useable Pages
    Used Pages
    Free Pages

and filter this out to decide on what we should do.

Well I thought the whole purpose of taking "snapshots" was to have db2 notify me when the threshholds I specify are reached...... like when a tablespace is 85% full.....

I suppose I should read the book to find out exactly what "storage Management" will actually do for me.

If all else fails - Read the Book!
    lol !
