    Question Unanswered: odd behavior by a combo box

    enter the database click the create job button, then in the combo box under the lable 'If cell is not known enter Location job related to' why does it do the following:

    it doesn't allow me to select some locations
    ie M/C 33
    selecting some items selects different values
    ie M/C 92 selects M/C 51
    and others work perfectly
    ie Croom

    this is driving me nut and i know it's probably something simple, any help welcome

    the combo is bound to a field that is blank on half of the records.

    Look at the recordsource.

    okay that might cover the cant select problem how about the others,

    and could you try being more verbose and less terse with your replies, you tend to come accross as very condescending with you current style of reponse

    okay following you logic i take it the other problems relate to the fact the bound column cotains duplicate data, unforchanetly the data is correct and the data needed in that field is the duplicated values so any idea how i get the combo box to display the correctly selected option and not the first occurence of the duplicated value?

    okay i've got it working now for anyone else with this problem heres my fix (i warn you it not pretty)

    firstly i've changed to query behind the combo to SELECT Places.Name FROM Places;
    and i've put this code behind the combo box
    Private Sub Combo35_AfterUpdate()
    Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
    Set rs = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("SELECT Cell FROM Places Where Name like '" & Combo35.SelText & "';")
    rs.MoveFirst
    Me.AreaBox = rs(0)
    rs.Close
    End Sub
