Unanswered: V7.1 Create Instance hangs on Solaris 7

    Hi,

I try to install DB2EES V7.1 on a Solaris 7 machine. While creating the instance it hangs.

In the process list I found this:
    db2inst2 25707 25699 0 15:36:55 pts/2 0:00 db2 update database manager configuration using SYSADM_GROUP db2iadm2

This should be the cause of the hang. When I create an environment similar like db2idbm, then I can start db2. Also here it hangs when I try commands like "db2 list applications".

While hanging there is no CPU consumption. Looking at the ipc resources I see:
IPC status from <running system> as of Wed May 7 16:02:44 MET DST 2003
T ID KEY MODE OWNER GROUP
    Message Queues:
    q 750 0x1daf115 --rw------- db2inst2 db2iadm2
    q 301 0x1ebb9ec -Rrw------- db2inst2 db2iadm2
    q 452 0 --rw------- db2inst2 db2iadm2
    Shared Memory:
    Semaphores:

I think db2 is waiting on the queue with the key 0x1ebb9ec.

The system is a Sun E450. Solaris is SunOS 5.7. I've installed the recommended patches 107226-17 107153-01 106327-10.

Does anybody has an idea why db2 hangs and what I can do to have a successfull instance creation?

    Regards
    Mike

    RTFM was the solution ...

I only set kernel parameters for msgmax and msgmnb. After setting all parameters as described in the installation instructions, it worked.

    Regards Mike
