    Unanswered: ORA-01552 - Wierd... (8.1.7 - Linux)

    Okay, i've got Personal Oracle 8.1.7 on my Linux machine.

    I've created 2 databases in the past with no probs.

    I've just created another database in exactly the same way as the others that are on my machine, but whenever i try to INSERT a row into any table i get that ORA-01552 error.

    Not got the foggiest what it means as not much of an Oracle guru just yet.

    Any ideas why it's throwing this error up?

    Cheers,

    Robsco!

    Ensure that your "user" rollback segments are online. It sounds like
    the only rollback segment online is the system.

    sql> select segment_name,status from dba_rollback_segs;
    sql> alter rollback segment "rollbackname" online;

    And to make sure your rollback segments are online every time you restart your database, include them in the init.ora:
    rollback_segments = (RBS01, RBS02)

    To make it properly, use Oracle Enterprise Manager (version 9) or DBA Studio (version 8) : in your DB > Stockage > Segments d'annulation > your DB set Status at "on line".
    This status may be off if you restart Oracle.
