Well, what database software are you planning to use? What environment do you plan to use to display/manipulate the data? It's hard to provide advice without context.

    2 tables

    PLATFORMS TABLE
    pId - Integer (Primary Key)
    Name - Varchar(10)
    Code:
    pId Name
    1 Gamecube
    2 PS2
    3 PS1
    4 Nintendo
    5 PC
    CHEATS TABLE
    cheatId - Integer (Primary Key)
pId - Integer 'References PLATFORMS TABLE pId
    gameName - Varchar(120)
    cheatName - Varchar(120)
    dateAdded - date/time
    Code:
    pId gameName CheatName dateAdded
5 Grand Theft Auto 3 God Cheat 5/13/2002
2 Splinter Cell Stealth Cheat 5/13/2002
write the actual cheat to a text file, then use the FileSystemObject to read the file and display it on the page, based on what cheatId was called.

You might be better off avoiding the DBMS altogether and using text files. Think about it: if something goes wrong with your code you'll have to spend fifteen minutes trying to come up with a SQL query to find the bug. If a text file screws up, you can just open it in an editor.

Performance-wise... don't sweat it. Even if you use the most inefficient processing you'll still have to have thousands of records before the page takes more than a second to load.

IMHO, what you're doing is a terrible way to learn about DBMS's, but it's a pretty good way to learn the basics of how files and input and output work. Starting with a DBMS is (almost literally) like trying to learn set theory without understanding arithmetic.
