    Unanswered: Setting NLS Lang on Session

    Im using VB6 to connect to two different ORACLE 8 DBs.
    These DBs are set up with different language settings.

    DB1 is set up with NLS_LANG = AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1

    DB2 is set up with NLS_LANG = GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8ISO8859P9

    Setting these values in the registry allows me to connect to the DBs but not at the same time. So the question is how to set NLS_LANG individual for each session. I have tried out various settings for the

    AdoConnection.Properties("Locale Identifier") = 1033 'EN-US locale code

    But with out any success.

    PLS Advice.

    /Thomas

    Cool Re: Setting NLS Lang on Session

    If I understood your probs, then u can try this with creating at command prompt one enviorenment variable for each session,,,

    SET NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WHATEVER

    and for onther session go to prompt

    SET NLS_LANG=GERMANY,,, WHATEVER

    all the best!

    Thanks for the answer, but I have to connect to the DBs with on single EXE file.

    My hope is that someone knows a Solution like setting NLS_LANG in the tnsname.ora for each Database file.

    Thumbs up

    I guess, you can run this command:

    SQL> ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE = GERMAN;

    Session wurde gendert.

    SQL> SELECT * FROM TEST_ONLY;
    SELECT * FROM TEST_ONLY
    *
    FEHLER in Zeile 1:
    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

    Hope that helps,
