    Unanswered: backup database

    hi all..
    i am working with postgres & Visual Basic. using odbc & ADO. how can i back up and restore a database (other than pg_dump/pg_restore) using query.

    easy way

    i have not tried this but

    look into the postgresql log file and then make a pg_dump

    now you have all the fine sql you need :-)

    i tried it but there is lot of Queries, and the file cannot not be created using queries.it is not a practical method. is there any other options available. how can i run the pg_dump utility from a query. ie how can i run a program using through postgres database (using SQL or PL/PgSQl).

    is there a pg_dump for windows available.

    but i don't know much about this on windows
    but there is a project on gborg that made a postgres dump on windows
    maybe you should look at

    How do u want to make a backup , in you own software or with an extrenal tool ?? if it's with an external tool I'll advice you http:///www.dbtools.com.br and it's the best, I'm using it evryday without problems , rstore and backup millions of sweet rows !

    i want to make a back up from my own software (windows client). is there any option for that.
