    Unanswered: Oracle Update/Inserts data onto SQL Server

    I have a DB Link from Oracle to SQL Server. I would like to update/insert data from Oracle to SQL Server using a Oracle stored procedure(package). The procedure contains an insert/update statements that inserts/updates data into a SQL Server table. I run the Insert statement standalone and was able to insert the entry onto SQL Server. However, when the statements are inside an Oracle stored procedure (package), it generates the error below:

    Error:ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    [Generic Connectivity Using ODBC]393330(0,0,1[[]])
    ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from SQL_SERVER.

    If the above approach cannot be done, then can I call a SQL Server stored procedure inside an Oracle stored procedure? If so, can you please show me how? Thanks in advance for your advice.

    check the HS parameter(needed for ODBC agent) in initxxx.ora file

    Name of your (hs)ora file should match the sid in the tnsnames and listener.ora.

    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=sid

    Note: if sid contains dbname.domainname, then remove the domain name
