Unanswered: I am a newbie to Postgre

Hello everyone! Hope you're all guys having a great day!
I am a really new lad to all this stuff that is going on, so would you
please be so kind to help me out with some things that i come up
    with?
The problem is that i don't have any notion how to see what tables
within a particular database i've got (in mysql i used to execute
"Show tables" and it would work), neither i do know how to get
the description of a table (in mysql it was "Describe table").
If anyone were also so kind to give some really easy to understand
C-lines with connect, disconnect and query disciplines in them, my
sheer gladfulness wouldn't have any countable sizes
    Thank you very much

you should look the docs for psql command tool or you should use a graphical one (go to http://gborg.postgresql.org/ to see then all).

The problem itself lies in that i don't really rely on graphical software when it comes to using databases, i don't even know why
i am accustomed to using text-mode software to manage things
And i am not satisfied with the result when i don't know why it works
I am now trying to find something more-less interesting on the net, meanwhile wrote only some examples in C that work, but it isn't it. This world is not built on Hello-world sites
Nevertheless, thank you for the answer
