    Unanswered: Temporary Table

    Hi,

    SQL server= MS Server 7.0

I have created a global temporary table in server A and am trying to access it from server B, through linked server connection.

Firstly, is it possible to access the value from the other server's tempdb? If yes, how can I go about it.

    I get the following error:

    Server: Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
    Invalid object name '##test'.
Database name 'tempdb' ignored, referencing object in tempdb.

    Please advise.

    Thanks
    Yogish

Although I would have expected the standerd four part nameing convention to work, select * from <server name>.<database name>.<owner name>.<table name>, I always got the same error message. When I tried using OPENQUERY eveything worked just fine.

    select * From OPENQUERY(<linked server name>, 'select * from <your global temp table>')
