    Unanswered: error while loading shared libraries:libskgxp8.so: cannot open shared object file: No

    Hi all,

    I just finished an installation on RH9 with Oracle 8.1.7.

    I can start the listener service but when I run svrmgl I get this error:

    error while loading shared libraries:libskgxp8.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    Does anyone know how to generate this file.. I search the entire filesystem but it cannot be found.

    ldd

    Doc ID:
    Note:219461.1
    Subject:
    ld.so.1: oracle: fatal: libnwora.so: open failed: No such file or directory
    Type:
    PROBLEM
    Status:
    PUBLISHED

    Content Type:
    TEXT/PLAIN
    Creation Date:
    16-NOV-2002
    Last Revision Date:
    18-DEC-2002

    Fact(s)
    -------

    You are using Legato Networker on a 64-Bit Unix environment. After
    relinking, a connect to the database may fail with the errors below.

    Symptom(s)
    ----------

    $ sqlplus
    Enter user-name: / as sysdba
    ld.so.1: oracleS817: fatal: libnwora.so: open failed: No such file or directory
    ERROR:
    ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact

    An ldd command on the oracle executable shows the following regarding
    library libnwora.so:

    $/u02/app/oracle/817/bin> ldd oracle
    libskgxp8.so => /u02/app/oracle/817/lib64/libskgxp8.so
    libjox8.so => /u02/app/oracle/817/lib64/libjox8.so
    libnwora.so => (file not found)
    ....
    ....

    Change(s)
    ---------
    This may be a new install of Legato Networker, a soft link
    in $ORACLE_HOME/lib or $ORACLE_HOME/lib64 may have been removed,
    or LD_LIBRARY_PATH may have been changed since this last worked.

    Cause
    -------

    This error occurs under the following circumstances:

    1. LD_LIBRARY_PATH does NOT include the /usr/lib directory (which is
    the directory where Legato advises the libnwora.so file be installed).
    2. The soft link(s) for libobk.so does not exist in $ORACLE_HOME/lib or
    $ORACLE_HOME/lib64, or it points to the wrong library.
    3. A soft link called libnwora.so, pointing to /usr/lib/libnwora.so does
    not exist

    Fix
    ---
    1. Add /usr/lib to LD_LIBRARY_PATH:

    From a c-shell:
    $ setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH $ORACLE_HOME/lib:/usr/lib

    From a korn shell:
    $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:/usr/lib
    $ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH

    or:

    2. Create a soft link called libobk.so and another called libnwora.so
    in $ORACLE_HOME/lib64, which points to /usr/lib/libnwora.so:

    $ ln -s /usr/lib/libnwora.so libobk.so
    $ ln -s /usr/lib/libnwora.so libnwora.so

    Relink Oracle:

    $ cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib
    $ make -f ins_rdbms.mk ioracle

    Note - Option#2 is documented in:

    "Legato Networker Module for Oracle Installation Guide"

    available at:

    http://web1.legato.com/infodev/publi.../3.1/nmoig.pdf

    However, later versions of Legato documentation do not mention this option.

    See, for example:
    http://web1.legato.com/infodev/publi....5/nmoig35.pdf

    If Oracle is linked using Option#1, the command 'ldd oracle' will display as follows:

    $/u02/app/oracle/817/bin> ldd oracle
    libskgxp8.so => /u02/app/oracle/817/lib64/libskgxp8.so
    libjox8.so => /u02/app/oracle/817/lib64/libjox8.so
    libnwora.so => /usr/lib/libnwora.so
    ...
    ...

    If Oracle is linked using option#2, then the command 'ldd oracle' will show the following output:

    $/u02/app/oracle/817/bin> ldd oracle
    libskgxp8.so => /u02/app/oracle/817/lib64/libskgxp8.so
    libjox8.so => /u02/app/oracle/817/lib64/libjox8.so
    libnwora.so => /u02/app/oracle/817/lib64/libnwora.so
    ...
    ...
