    Question Unanswered: Tempdb & logs

    Hi DB gurus,

Since tempdb & log of a database is operating system file in SQL Server 2000, I was wondering what are the ways & means to improve performance. There are number of times the queries uses tempdb. Similarly log device are heavily used too.

Any help, pointers will be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Rachael

In general, try to avoid using temp table as much as possible. You can read more about it from the URL below:

    http://www.sql-server-performance.co...ved_tables.asp

In addition, you should put the Tempdb, Log, and data file each on separate disk on DIFFERENT controllers if possible. These steps will definitely 90% improve the database ovcerall performance.
