Unanswered: Upgrade Route for SQL 7.0 to SQL 2000

I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times. My company are fully paid on all licences for Windows 2000 Server and SQL 7.0 and are now interested in upgrading to SQL 2000. Is there an upgrade path/cost plan for our situation or it is a complete new buy and we override all licences for SQL 7.0?

    Thanks in advance

Ths best option is to contact MS Support for licensing issues, rather going on word basis.#

Check this link for upgrade process.

    Thanks for that....

Seems a chat with them is the answer...

To me (from what I know) it is crazy that even though we are fully licenced up with SQL 7.0 (and recently) that a full buy is required and that our licences cannot be transferred. Maybe the reason Bill's so rich!

Well I may not comment on the MS strategy but thats how business works. So its better to get details from the originator than middle-man in the licensing issues. May be you can check your local shops for any incentives by the providers or on the web.

Do refer to the above link for the upgrade process if you are in doubt.
And this forum is available anyway for any issue.
