Unanswered: formula for calculating tablespace growth

    Hi gurus,

I forgot a while back I was looking for a formula to calculate growth projections as part of capacity planning for our DB2 environment. We plan month end loads of DB2 that increase our row count from 150,000 to 2 million rows that our loaded via nitely processing for month end. Does anyone have a good formula for calculating how much additional space we would need for our tablespaces and containers? Thanks

    Scott

Re: formula for calculating tablespace growth

This is a rough estimate .... Details are from Admin Guide - Planning

    For tables

    (number_of_records/records_per_page) * 1.1 = number_of_pages

    Indexe size

    (average index key size + 8) * number of rows * 2

IMHO, reading the chapter on Physical Database Design in Admin Guide - Planning will be very useful to you

    Cheers
