    Post Unanswered: DB2 support for dbms_output.put_line in Oracle

    Hi,

    Can you please tell me the substitute for following in DB2 :

    1.dbms_output.put_line(_
    2.To_CHAR()
    3.To_DATE()

    Do I need to write UDF for TO_CHAR() and TO_DATE(). These are by default availabe in Oracle.

    Thnaks,

    Hi,

    Can you please help me out if I could find UDFs for to_char(), to_date() and dbms_output.put_line.
    Thanks.

    Aren't you on V8 ?

    Have a look at the to_date and to_char functions in the SQL Reference also called timestamp_format and varchar_format ... They are quiet restrictive, though

    For dbms_output.put_line , I suggest you use the language you are comfortable with (either java or c)

    Hi,

    I am using V8.1 I tried using varchar_format() and timestamp_format() but gives lot of pain saying invalid arguments/parameters. Can u please tell me it's correct usage.

    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can download UDF for dbms_output.put_line from "http://www7b.software.ibm.com/dmdd/library/techarticle/0302izuha/0302izuha.html"
    Thanks,
    Thangam
