    Unanswered: Recommended amount of memory?

    Hi,

I'm running SQL Server 2000 on a NT 4.0 and am about to buy a new server for it. Just a few questions:

Is there any performance benefit moving from NT4.0 to Windows 2000 (I would gather there is, but is it much?)

How much memory should i put on the box? It's going to be a dual processor Xeon 2ghz+ machine. The main database on the machine is about 3.5 to 4 gigs. It's only a database server - nothing else. What would be a good amount?

    Thanks in advance,

    Josh Dolan

Using 2GB will give you optimum results and performance, and it again depends upon the db design, indexes, data access from client.

Refer to SQL Server performance website for tips and tricks on memory, design, performance topics.
