    Unanswered: can't connect via ISQL

    Hi,

    I've just installed Sybase ASE 12.5 on Solaris.
    Here's a quote from output of "ps -auxww":

    syb125 8892 0.5 2.754208 3296 ? S Jun 18 36:07 /sym/database/sybase/12.5/ASE-12_5/bin/dataserver -sbuick
    -d/sybase/12.5/data/master
    -e/sym/database/sybase/12.5/ASE-12_5/install/buick.log
    -c/sym/database/sybase/12.5/ASE-12_5/buick.cfg
    -M/sym/database/sybase/12.5/ASE-12_5

    That says that Sybase is running, and the server's name is buick, right?

    But when I try to run "isql -sbuick -Usa -P" I getthe following:

    CT-LIBRARY error:
    ct_connect(): directory service layer: internal directory control layer error: Requested server name not found.

    Here are my env settings:
    PATH=/sybase/12.5/ASE-12_5/bin:/sybase/12.5/OCS-12_5/bin:/sybase/12.5/CFG-1_0/bin:/usr/xpg4/bin:/usr/ucb:/usr/openwin/bin:/usr/ccs/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/bin:.
    LM_LICENSE_FILE=/sybase/12.5/SYSAM-1_0/licenses/license.dat:
    SYBASE_SYSAM=SYSAM-1_0
    SYBASE_OCS=OCS-12_5
    SYBASE=/sybase/12.5
    SYBASE_JRE=/sybase/12.5/shared-1_0/jre1.2.2
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/lwp:/sybase/12.5/ASE-12_5/lib:/sybase/12.5/OCS-12_5/lib:/usr/lib:/sybase/12.5/SQLRemote/lib:
    SYBASE_ASE=ASE-12_5

    Please explain what might be wrong - I'm new with both Sybase and Solaris.
    Thanks.

    Hiya,

    You can't use isql -s<Server Name>, this is incorrect connection syntax.

    it should be;
    isql -Sbuick -Usa -P

    Cheers
