    Unanswered: Select From All Tables

    Is there a way to search for all occurances of an item throughout a whole database? I need to be able to take an item and search all tables and all columns to see where it comes up. Does this make sense and is it possible? Thanks, Jeremy

    Are you talking about every table that contains a column called "column_name" ???

    if so...

    sql> select table_name from user_tab_columns where column_name = 'column_name';

    Well...I have this ERP system that has "Items" and it ties everything together by the item. So if I have 'Jeremy' as an item, I need to search the whole database (All tables and all columns in those tables) to find every occurance of 'Jeremy'. Does that explain it better? Thanks, Jeremy
