    Unanswered: Calculating Database Size

Does anybody know of an EASY way to calculate a Postgres database size ?

I have found a dbsize.c file in the Postgres site which does that, but I don't have the knowledge or the time to download the whole source code and recompile it again.

    Thank you in advance.

    Smile What about block size?

Thanks. This was very very helpful.

However, I would really like to know if there is a way to find out the Postgres block size for sure. Please note that I have installed a precompiled rpm of postgres 7.2. This version doesn't include the pg_controldata script unfortunately. Furthermore, I am using a shared shell, so I don't have superuser priviledges to execute it.

If you have any ideas, I would be most grateful to hear them.

Thanks again, you have been very helpful
