    Unanswered: sysProcesses.LastWaitType info

I'm looking for documentation on these LastWaitTypes:

    CMEMTHREAD
    CXPACKET
    EXCHANGE
    IO_COMPLETION
    LATCH_EX
    MISCELLANEOUS
    NETWORKIO
    PAGEIOLATCH_EX
    PAGEIOLATCH_SH
    PAGELATCH_EX
    PAGELATCH_SH
    PAGELATCH_UP
    RESOURCE_QUEUE
    SLEEP
    WRITELOG

I first ran this to create the temp table:

    select distinct p.lastwaittype
    into #tmp
    from master..sysprocesses p

Then I ran this about every second for a while to add some more entries:

    insert into #tmp
    select distinct p.lastwaittype
    from master..sysprocesses p
    left outer join #tmp t on p.lastwaittype = t.lastwaittype
    where t.lastwaittype is null

Where can I find a list of what all of these wait types mean?

    Thanks,

Microsoft KB Article 822101 lists the information you want. I find it nice to have, when folks are wondering what is taking so long.

Also refer to KALEN DELANEY's Inside SQL Server 2000 book for more gotchas.
