Unanswered: how to open an ole-object with vb

    hi,

i have the following problem (sql-server/access2000 client):

in a table i have stored various documents (word, excel, ...) in as an ole-object in an image-type field.

when i open the table i can doubleclick on this field and the document opens in the correct application.

now i want to do the same with vba-code: open the table a recordset, find the row with the document i want - and then open it. ,

i DON'T want to open a form and display it there!

thanks in advance for your help
    thomas

This is a roundabout way but if you have the extention of the file stored somewhere you can write code to open the corresponding program based on the extention.

If you have the rights to change the database design then I would look into storing that information. Doesn't quite answer your question but if you can forgo (if possible) having to stick to that design then it will save you from having to derive that information from the file itself.
