Question Unanswered: bcp batches in sybase 12.5 or earlier

    Friends,
The sybase utility guide states that the minimum batch size is 10 for bcp command (i.e -b option). Also, if the number is smaller than 10 then it defaults to 10 per batch. I tried putting in 10 records once with -b1 and it showed 10 transactions or batches successfulyy bulkcopied into SQL server and also with -b10 , it shows 1 transaction. I don't know why the manual says that the minimum batch size is 10. It's very confusing at times..... Can anyone throw some light on this????

    Regards

Don't mix what it's doing and what it's displaying.

The -b1 specified that it execute each insert line per line.

E.g. I'm inserting 20 tuples, but one record already exists with a unique constraint.
With -b10, the bcp will insert 10 lines (it doesn't insert the block of 10 lines including the duplicate)
With -b1, the bcp will insert 19 lines (it doesn't insert the line including the duplicate)

Is it ok for you now ?
