Unhappy Unanswered: Help:Oracle 8.0.6 Client connect to Oracle DB 9i error

    Dear ALL:
I've install Oracle Net8 Client and SQL*Plus 8.0.6 in my notebook,
I try to connect to Oracle 9i Database (run in another DB server machine) from my notebook with SQL*Plus 8.0.6, Using SCOTT/TIGER@[TNS_NAME]
    there are error messages:
    ERROR:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-00911: invalid character

Why? I can connect to any Oracle DB (ver 7.3.4,8.0.4,8.0.6,8.1.6,8.1.7...etc) from my notebook with this well configuration....but can't do well as connecting to any 9i Database....
Can someone help me to solve this problem?
    Thanks!!

what is the database name or tns name, does it contain any special character.

The error speciifes the usage of special characters in between.

pls check this ,also u can check connecting to another database without a special chaacter.

using the Net8 try to test the database connection.

    C whst u get.

Re: Help:Oracle 8.0.6 Client connect to Oracle DB 9i error

it might be: BUG:2296256 8.0.6 CLIENT COULD CONNECT TO 9I DATABASE WHICH CHARACTERSET IS ZHS32GB18030

    fix:

1- Check the Database character set :
    SQL> Select * from V$NLS_PARAMETERS
    where parameter like '%CHARACTERSET%'

2- Make sure the client character set is complaint with the server character
