    Unanswered: Schema Generation tool?

    Hi all,

Just wondering how I can go about creating a diagram of a database with its tables and their relationships for MS-SQL Server 2000.

    Thanks

    Re: Schema Generation tool?

Tools like Microsoft Visio or ErWin allows you to reverse engineer a database, so you can have what you ask.

if you dont want to buy visio (quite expensive), under each databse there is a diagrams icon. right click on it, choose 'create new diagram' and go through the wizard...is more basic than visio, but will correctly represent the basic schema and any foreign key relaionships you have defined.

    Linz99,

The database diagram tool in Enterprise manager should be sufficient for what you need, but be warned that if you modify table connections while using this tool you will actually change the architecture of your database (if you save your changes). You can't use this tool to show logical relationships between data without establishing physical relationships (foreign keys, constraints, etc...).
